Talha Takes on the Distance for Halima
Talha and his family live in a city located in Afghanistan named Kandahar. He resides in a small village where most of the population are classified as food insecure. The state of his village has deteriorated due to the pandemic and most of the population have now become severely food insecure. The village Talha lives in has very few healthy food stores/stalls and the few they have are too expensive for locals like Talha and his family to afford. This leads Talha and his family to consume unhealthy foods such as junk foods as it is very affordable and easily accessible. One day, while Talha was taking care of his little sister Halima, he hands her a bag of chips in response to her request for food. This event leads Halima to fall ill and force Talha to take matters into his own hands. He decides to venture out to far distances in order to make money and seek healthy food options for his sister Halima. Players will be presented with the chance to interact with the game and story by choosing what happens next as Talha wanders the streets of Kandahar. Each option presented to players can either lead to more choices which guides players towards the conclusion of the game or a dead end. The dead end informs players they’ve chosen an option which would not prove helpful for Talha but players can easily go back by clicking the arrow and reselect another option. The story allows players to choose between taking Talha to the city or exploring the village and these two options allow Talha to take on two very different paths.
